Stephen Sydoriw

Steve Sydoriw has served as head coach of the cross country program since 2013, but has been with the team since 2010. Sydoriw brought back a National Championship to the Generals in 2014, seeing Victoria Campanian capture an individual championship at Finger Lakes. It was Herkimer’s first individual National Championship since 1996. That success continued into 2015 with a male runner, Norman Clayton, capturing a Third Team All-American selection after finishing in 15th place at Holyoke Community College in November.

In 2016, The women’s team won the Mountain Valley Conference Champion and won Regionals at Mohawk Valley Community College. Sydoriw was named Women’s Coach of the Year and had two All American runners. Chyanna Bernier named to First Team All American (2nd place) and Tiffany Amentler named Third Team All American (13th place) at Nationals held at Finger lakes.

Known as Steve, Sydoriw is a native of Westmoreland, NY where he was a three-sport athlete at Westmoreland High School. He participated in cross country, volleyball and baseball for the Bulldogs.

Sydoriw earned an A.S. at Mohawk Valley Community College and B.S. & M.S. at SUNY Cortland. In addition to coaching, he is in his eighth year as an instructor of physical education and sports and recreation management at Herkimer College.

Sydoriw resides in Frankfort, NY with his wife Kristin, son Henry, and daughter Sydney.
