Dorrian Region 3 Male Athlete of the Year

HERKIMER, NY – Herkimer County Community College’s Patrick Dorrian, a two-sport athlete who helped both the men’s basketball and baseball programs to Region III championships, has been named Region III Male Athlete of the Year. This is the second consecutive year that Herkimer College boasts the Region III Male Athlete of the Year.

Dorrian, from Kingston, is a 2016 graduate with an associate degree in General Studies. As a freshman, Dorrian helped the men’s basketball (2014-2015) and baseball (2015) teams to Region III championships, as well as fourth place national finishes for both. He was named first team All-Region and second team All-American in his freshman year at third base. He was top five nationally in walks (34), runs scored (61) and runs batted in (59) in 2015. As a sophomore, Dorrian added first team All-Conference and All-Region selections in basketball, and then was awarded All-Conference at shortstop and second team All-Region for baseball. He averaged a team-high 14 point per game for basketball and hit .354 with 43 runs scored, three home runs and 37 runs batted in for baseball. His sophomore contributions resulted two more Region III tournament appearances for both programs. In his two years at Herkimer, Dorrian helped basketball to a 56-8 overall record and baseball to an 82-7 record.

“I am so happy that the region recognized Patrick for his outstanding abilities as a student-athlete,” said Head Baseball Coach Jason Rathbun. “To be an All-Region basketball player and All-American baseball player is something special! It was a pleasure to watch him compete.”

“It is great to see Patrick recognized by our Region III athletic directors for his success on the basketball court and baseball field,” said Athletic Director Donald Dutcher. “To be selected as the best male athlete out of the thousands that participate is an unbelievable honor! I am proud of him, and thank Patrick for all of his hard work the past two years at our institution.”
