Baseball handles Raptors at home 11-1 and 8-2

HERKIMER, NY – Building on their current five game win streak, the Herkimer Generals swept the Montgomery Raptors on Friday (4/17), winning 11-1 and 8-2.

Herkimer (15-3) got solid pitching performances from Chad Sinko (Cohoes, NY) and Jake Shortslef (Hannibal, NY), seeing each starter earn the victory in five innings of work. Sinko allowed five hit and one run, earning his third win of the season, while Shortslef allowed three hits and two runs for his second win of the season.

Going 5-for-7 in the doubleheader with four runs batted in and three doubles was Chris Rave (Middletown, NY). Doing the same damage was freshman Patrick Dorrian (Kingston, NY), also accumulating four RBI. The infielder went 3-for-6 in the doubleheader, doing all of his work in game one where he went 3-for-3 with the previously mentioned four runs batted in.

The Generals will continues their home stand into the weekend, hosting Clinton Community College on Saturday (4/18). Game times between the Cougars and Generals are scheduled for 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
