Win streak at eight after sweep of Raiders at home Saturday

(In game one on Saturday, Jon Sell got the Generals out of a bases loaded jam with one out, not allowing a run to score).

HERKIMER, NY – Hosting their third conference opponent in a double header on Saturday (4/16), the Herkimer Generals baseball team came away with another sweep, defeating Fulton-Montgomery 4-0 and 11-5.

Herkimer (14-8) rode Kody Shaw (Fort Hunter, NY) in game one, allowing only one hit in 4 1/3 innings pitched to earn his first win of the season. The sophomore didn’t make it easy on himself, walking seven Raiders during his outing which led to relief appearance by Jon Sell (Burnt Hills, NY) and Dan Nuzzi (Burnt Hills, NY). Neither allowed a hit in their time on the mound which helped the offense who only accumulated seven hits against Fulton-Montgomery starter Patrick Hart.

In game two, the bats came back to life, totaling 12 hits and 11 runs. Driving in those runs was Gage Lanning (Central Square, NY), Patrick Dorrian (Kingston, NY) and Joseph Foran (Fort Ann, NY). Lanning went 2-for-4 with four RBI, Dorrian went 1-for-4 with one RBI and Foran went 1-for-4 with one RBI.

The only other Generals to accumulate multiple hit in game two other than Lanning was Greg Musk (Rotterdam, NY) and Justin Kiesow (Frankfort, NY).

Herkimer will now travel to Johnstown, NY on Sunday (4/17) to play the Raiders in another doubleheader. Fulton-Montgomery will host the games at 1 and 3 p.m.
