Baseball defeats DII Monroe 13-6 on Monday

ROCHESTER, NY – Scoring eight runs in the eighth inning of Monday’s (5/9) game at Monroe Community College, the #6 Herkimer Generals baseball team defeated the Tribunes 13-6.

Herkimer (28-9, 20-2) got key hits from Patrick Dorrian (Kingston, NY), Christian Malave (Milford, CT), Jake Rouse (Milford, CT) and Greg Musk (Rotterdam, NY). Dorrian had an RBI single, Malave had a two-run single, Rouse had a one-run single and Musk had a two-run triple. Mixed in was two runs scored via an error and passed ball - helping Herkimer blow the game open 13-5 before Musk earned his fifth win of the season - pitching the seventh, eighth and ninth innings. Musk finished the game 3-for-4 at the plate with three runs scored and two runs batted in. As for pitching, he allowed one run off of four hits, striking out four Tribunes in his relief appearance.

Besides Musk, Malave led the team with three runs batted in, followed by Dorrian and Rouse with two. Malave finished 3-for-6 at the plate, Dorrian finished 3-for-5 and Rouse finished 2-for-4.

Getting the start in the game was Zak Shaw (Fort Hunter, NY). The sophomore went two innings before Salvatore Lovaglio (Dix Hills, NY) and Joe DeSarro (Frankfort, NY) appeared in relief, both going two innings.

With the win, Herkimer will ride a two-game win streak into Hudson Valley on Tuesday (5/10). They’ll play two games at Joe Bruno Stadium with start times scheduled for 2 and 4 p.m.
