Generals Endure First Loss.

The Herkimer Generals Men’s Basketball team took their first loss to the undefeated Corning Red Barons today.  This game was physical and intense as two undefeated teams went head to head trying to keep their winning streaks alive.  Herkimer came into the match 5-0 against Corning, coming in 4-0.  This game was all about defense.  At the end of the first half neither team was able to score more than 30 points.  Herkimer led at the half 29-21.  Corning’s #11 Tyler Collins was the key player for the Red Barons coming into the second half scoring ten points, impressively so considering he was shut down by the Herkimer defense in the first half without a bucket.  Herkimer’s #4 Isiah Dobere was the top scorer for the second half sinking 7 points for the Generals.  Unfortunately it wasn’t enough as the Red Barons took the win 59-51 over the Generals.  Herkimer now turns the page to focus on their next opponent Finger Lakes, as they host the Lakers tomorrow (11/20) in the Varsity Gym at 2 p.m.
