Generals defeat Twins for 13th consecutive win Saturday

HUDSON, NY – Building on their largest win streak of the season, the Herkimer Generals men’s basketball team traveled to face Columbia-Greene Community College Saturday (2/14), handing the Twins a 72-50 loss at home, increasing the Generals win streak to 13 games overall and 11 amongst Mountain Valley Conference opponents.

Herkimer (24-2, 15-1) saw strong performances from Jamell Johnson (Rochester, NY), Ken Woodard (Bronx, NY) and Daniel Owens (Albany, NY). The three players combined for 47, with Johnson leading the way with 18, knocking down four three point field goals in 40 minutes. Woodard followed with 15 and Owens had 14.

After those three, Carson Murphy (Mohawk, NY) had seven, Jallah Taver (Schenectady, NY) had five, Kainan McCarthy (Mohawk, NY) had five, Julio Galay (Bronx, NY) had four, Felix Riascos (Poughkeepsie, NY) had three and Dantre Langhorne (Greenport, NY) had one.

The Generals next game is against #6 Monroe Community College (DII). The Tribunes are one of two teams this season to give #2 Herkimer (DIII) a loss. They’ll be riding a 10-game win streak into Tuesday’s game at Monagan court. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
