Chyanna Bernier breaks course record, places 1st at home invitational
Herkimer, N.Y. - Slick conditions and cooler weather couldn't stop sophomore Chyanna Bernier (Ilion, NY) from breaking the course record today. Bernier broke the record in a time of 19:37. This marks a new course record under Coach Sydoriw's tenure that was previously held by Tori Campanian in 2013. That makes three top five finishes in a row for Bernier.
On the men's side, freshman Jake Baisley (Dolgeville, NY) placed first overall for Herkimer. Teammate Kyle Holmes (Spencer, NY) finished 3rd overall and was less than a minute behind Baisley. Both Baisley's and Holmes' stellar finishes were not enough to win the team portion of the meet. Herkimer would place second just behind Hudson Valley in the three team invitational. Jake Baisley has finished in the top ten in every meet so far this year.
The men's and women's cross country teams will be on the road for their next meet on 10/4 at SUNY Delhi. The meet is set to start at 4 pm.
