DRYDEN, NY – After losing their first game of the regular season to an NJCAA opponent, the Herkimer Generals men’s lacrosse team resumed their solid play on the road Saturday (4/18), defeating Tompkins-Cortland 14-7.

Herkimer (8-2) battled with the Panthers throughout the first quarter, needing three consecutive goals from Kyle Lee (Cincinnati, OH) to break a 2-2 tie. The sophomore scored all three goals in the final three minutes, scoring four in the game’s first 15 minutes, giving Herkimer a 5-2 lead. Lee finished the game with four goals and one assist, totaling 39 goals now on the season which is fifth best in the nation.

Tompkins-Cortland managed to net two more goals in the second, cutting the lead to 6-4 with seven minutes left in the half, but Cristian Ojeda (Ossining, NY) scored on an assist from Justin Steiner (Butler, PA) to push the lead back to three, going into intermission with a 7-4 lead.

Herkimer quickly took control of the game in the second half, scoring four unanswered goals in the third. Ryan Fischer (Monroe, NY), Jonathan Magaletti (Amsterdam, NY) and Ojeda all netted goals, pushing the lead to 11-4 into the fourth. It was Fischer’s 25th, Magaletti’s third and Ojeda’s 15th goal of the season.
