HERKIMER, NY – In their first home game of the season at Wehrum Stadium Saturday afternoon, the Herkimer Generals men’s lacrosse team put up a 13 spot on conference rival Mohawk Valley, winning the game by eight goals 13-5.

The Generals 3-0 (1-0) had everything clicking against the Hawks in this one, jumping out to a quick two goal lead on makes from Jeremy Mowrey (Johnstown, NY) and Joel Braun (Troy, NY). Each combined for five goals in the game, with Mowrey netting three goals and Braun netting two.

By intermission, Herkimer found themselves ahead by four (6-2), scoring four unanswered goals in the second quarter. Getting in the mix was Kyle Lee (Cincinnati, OH) and captain Tony Karam (New Hartford, NY). Lee scored with 6:51 left in the first half after he corralled a Karam shot-on-goal to make it 4-1. Karam scored with 2:08 left after Michael Fuoco (Kingston, NY) found his teammate deep in Hawk territory, scoring from point-blank range on a nifty shot over the goalies shoulder. That goal made it 6-1.
