Men’s Lacrosse falls to West Point on the road

(Ryan Fischer gives Herkimer a 1-0 lead in the first with 8:11 left in the first, scoring unassisted).

WEST POINT, NY – In their first regular season game of the regular season, the #9 Herkimer Generals men’s lacrosse team travel to play West Point on Saturday (3/5), losing in regulation 20-3.

Herkimer (0-1) scored first with 8:11 left in the first after Ryan Fischer (Monroe, NY) came from the back of the net, scoring right-to-left for his first goal of the season.

West Point quickly tied the game two minutes later until freshman Justin Flint (Endicott, NY) gave Herkimer another lead (2-1), scoring unassisted with 5:22 left in the first, the last goal the Generals scored in the half.

The rest of the half belonged to West Point, scoring seven unanswered goals in the second quarter to lead 10-2 at intermission.

Much of the same occurred in the second half, watching Herkimer get outscored 10-to-1. Scoring that lone goal was Flint, on an assist from captain Jon Wilkins (Norwalk, CT).

In goal for Herkimer on Saturday was Charles Rosaschi (Highland Mills, NY) and Markis Harrison (Burlington, NC). Rosaschi got the start, saving seven. Harrison came in the fourth, saving one shot.

Up next for the Generals is Dean College. The Bulldogs will come to Wehrum Stadium Tuesday, March 15th and face off at 2 p.m. The Bulldogs are currently 1-2 on the season.
