Men’s Soccer Remains Undefeated; Timberwolves Up Next

JAMESTOWN, NY – Obtaining their second shutout of the season against Jamestown Community College, the Herkimer Generals men’s soccer team defeated the Jayhawks 3-0 on Saturday (9/6) for their first road win of the season.

Herkimer (4-0, 0-0) got their first goal of the game from someone other than Ben Polk (Banbury, UK). Freshman Rodrigo Guerra (Newburgh, NY) scored his first of the season on an assist from Polk in the 41st minute, making it 1-0.

Making it a two goal lead in the 63rd minute was Polk unassisted. The sophomore quickly made it two goals in the game by the 65th minute on an assist from Jermaine Windster (Rotterdam, Holland). Polk currently leads the team with eight goals, averaging two per game as a General.

In the net for Herkimer for the third consecutive game was Austin Santor (Chazy, NY). The sophomore earned his first shutout of the season, saving two shots in 90 minutes of play.

The Generals next game is against Mountain Valley Conference rival SUNY Adirondack. The Timberwolves, who are ranked 10th in the NJCAA DIII, will travel to Wehrum Stadium with game time scheduled for 7 p.m.
