Marthage and Marrotta are stellar at bowling tourney

Utica, NY – The bowling Generals took to the lanes in their first competition of the season on Sunday, January 16, in the MVCC Hawk Invitational Tournament.  Freshman Ashley Marthage (Farmington) placed second in women’s overall individual scoring.  Freshman Matt Marrotta (Frankfort) finished 7th overall in men’s individual singles play. Marthage’s big day earned her a place on the All-Tournament Team.

The Lady Generals finished sixth in the nine-team field’s overall combined scoring.  They finished fifth in Baker scoring.

The men’s squad was missing three players for this event, which was played prior to the start of the academic semester.  They finished last in the field of 12 teams.

The two teams will be back in action on Wednesday, January 19, in a match at Columbia-Greene CC.  It will be Herkimer’s first Mountain Valley Conference bowling competition of the season.
