Bowlers score well at Blue and Orange Classic in Westchester
Valhalla, NY – Both Generals bowling teams made solid showings at the Blue and Orange Classic sponsored by Westchester CCC on Saturday, January 28. Herkimer’s men finished fifth in a field of nine teams. The Lady Generals finished a sterling second.
The only team to out-bowl the Herkimer women was Briarcliffe College – a four-year school with a varsity bowling program. The Generals were led by Ashley Marthage with a 1076 All-Event pin total, followed by Sara Edenhofer’s 1075, placing them third and fourth respectively in a field of 35 bowlers. Those finishes earned both Marthage and Edenhofer spots on the All-Tournament Team.
The doubles duo of Sara Edenhofer and Megan Douglass placed second in the doubles competition. The team of Maripat McNally and Ashley Marthage finished in fifth place.
Herkimer also placed three women in the top ten of the singles competition as Ashley Marthage, Maripat McNally and Sara Edenhofer all bowled exceptionally well.
The Men’s Team finished in fifth place – the exact middle of the field. The men were led by Matt Marrotta, who finished with a 1115 on the day for all events.
Herkimer is back in action on Wednesday, February 1. They will travel to SUNY Adirondack in Queensbury for a 3:00 p.m. conference match.
