The 2011 bowling season will be Head Coach PJ Anadio’s first term at the helm.  He will look to build upon a successful 2010 campaign that saw numerous bowlers compete in both Regional and National tournaments.  When asked what to expect this year, Anadio said, “I know that we have a good core of bowlers coming back from last year’s team and some good recruits.  My goals for us this season are for us to practice with commitment and to be intent on improving each time out.”  He added, “If we do those things, you never know where we might end up.  We just need to control what we can, and that’s our work ethic and practice habits.”

Coach Anadio brings a wealth of college coaching experience to his first year of coaching bowling.  He is HCCC’s Head Softball Coach.  He has also served as an assistant HCCC baseball coach since 2007. In his first season as assistant coach, Coach PJ helped lead Herkimer to a 35-8 record and a third-place finish in the World Series. Along with on-the-field responsibilities, Coach PJ acted as  recruiting coordinator for the program.   He also served as an assistant coach on the highly successful Men’s Basketball team, helping guide the Generals to their first National Tournament in over 20 years.  In regard to his Bowling experience, Anadio replied, “What I lack in knowledge and experience, you can bet that I will make up in hard work and dedication.  I am a firm believer that if you are a good coach, you can learn to coach anything.  As much as I expect my bowlers to put into their craft, they can expect the same out of me.  Given my organizational and motivational skills as a coach, coupled with my recruiting prowess and dedication, Herkimer Bowling will be in a very good place quite soon.”

Anadio played high school baseball at Gloversville High School, where he was a three-year varsity starter. He transferred to HCCC from Hartwick College and was named a two-year captain for the baseball team under coach Hank Testa. As a freshman, he batted .389 for the Generals and was selected to the All-Mountain Valley Conference Team (2000). Anadio played with current Head Baseball Coach Jason Rathbun that season, when Herkimer qualified for the Region III playoffs for the first time in ten years. Anadio was also a very successful student in the classroom, where he received numerous honors. He earned Academic All-American, was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society and was named to Who's Who Among American Junior College Students.

Anadio is employed as a technical assistant in the College's Fitness Center. He resides in Herkimer with his wife Jamie and his son Evan.
