Herkimer Baseball Gets 5 Players Committed For 2010
Herkimer received commitments from 5 standout players for 2010. Justin Payne is a standout pitcher from Lansing High School. Payne compiled an 8-1 record last year and was their ace pitcher as a junior. "Justin is a very good pitcher and will help our rotation as a freshman next year," stated Coach Rathbun. Cole Marozek is a 6'2 - 230 pound power hitting third baseman from Akron, Ohio who is coming off a knee surgery that is forcing him to sit out the 2009 season. Dan Bower is a transfer from DI Western Nebraska CC where he posted a 2-0 record while pitching 28 innings and can also play the infield. Willie Gabay is a RHP/OF from Mahopac High school and will provide a quality arm with the ability to cover a lot of ground in the outfield. Eric Verbickas is a big strong first baseman and LHP from New Hartford high school. "These five players can all make an impact for our team next year and we are thrilled to have them join us next year. Getting these players with their athletic ability is a direct effect of our recruiting coordinator PJ Anadio and his hard work in our recruiting efforts." stated Head Coach Jason Rathbun.
