SCC jumped on starter Kris Barone for 4 runs in the first inning but Herkimer battled back to take the lead 7-4. Chris Massar hit his 5th homerun on the season in the first to close it to 4-2. HCCC took the lead in the second on Nate Sanzo's RBI single. SCC would chase starter Kris Barone from the game in the 5th and a trio of arms tried to limit the scoring by SCC including injured starter Matt Gonyea who is battling shoulder problems. Herkimer made a run at the 14-7 lead but came up short as SCC took game one 14-11. Herkimer left runners on two runners on when Al Ferenti flew out to deep center to end the game. In game two Ferenti made up for the last out by pitching 6 strong innings limiting a good hitting SCC team. Ferenti went 6 innings allowing 8 hits, 2 walks and struck out 9. Ron Patterson scored on a Lee Foxton triple in the third and Ryan Davidson delivered a 2 RBI double in the 4th. Herkimer added a run in the 5th and went on to win 5-1 to earn a split on the day. Herkimer plays at Corning CC on Thursday and closes it regular season with defending Region 3 champions Hudson Valley on Saturday at home.
