Herkimer Headed To Sixth Straight Regional Final Four
Andy Eggleston returned to playoff form in a game one victory over Tompkins Cortland CC. Eggleston who threw two complete game victories last year, comes back with a complete game 9 innings with 10 strikeouts allowing 4 hits and 4 walks with 3 earned runs. Cody Rose singled in two runners in the 3rd inning but Herkimer answered finally in the 5th inning scoring 4 runs keyed by an Amar Lewis 2 run RBI single. Brett Hauber sacrificed a fly ball to score Lee Foxton to extend the lead to 5-3.
Two big right handed pitchers in Kris Barone and Anthony Siracuse met in game two. Brett Hauber had a two run RBI single in the first inning of game two. TC3 added a 3 run second but Herkimer would answer with 2 more runs in the bottom of the second keyed by another Amar Lewis 2 run RBI single. TC3 added a run in the 5th and took a two run lead in the 8th keyed by a Dan Zambito 2 run RBI single. Herkimer answered with 3 runs in the bottom of the eight inning when Mike Scotellaro and Jeff Sergott led off with singles and scored when George Hajjar singled. Hajjar would score on a throwing error over the first baseman's head to take a 1 run lead in the following at bat. Joe Perrotta came on to close out the 9th inning to get the series sweep in a 7-6 victory.
