Brandon Jones Ties Single Season Homerun Record in Sweep of Schenectady

George Hajjar went 2-4 in game one and hit his 6th homerun of the season as Herkimer cruised to a 7-0 victory in the opening game of the final regular season series with Schenectady.  Herkimer got a strong start from freshman Justin Payne as he kept SCC without a hit until the 5th inning.  Payne worked 6 innings allowing the 1 hit with 2 walks while striking out 7 batters.

Brandon Jones tied the single season homerun record that was set by Drew Farley in 2007 when he added his 8th homerun of the season in the 4th inning of game two.  Jones finished off the day 6 for 7 with 2 triples and a homerun and raised his season average to over .450.  Herkimer was leading 9-3 in the 7th when the wheels started to fall off as Schenectady would start the inning with 2 walks and 3 hit batters to close the game to 9-8 off closer Brett Hauber, Kevin Hedge came in to close the door to preserve the victory with the bases loaded and recorded the final 2 outs.  Jeff Sergott and Mike Scotellaro added 2-2 performances at the plate in game two.
