Herkimer Baseball Wins A Pair On Road; Jones Goes Deep Twice In Game 1

Herkimer got back on a baseball field in New York on Thursday and went on to sweep a doubleheader from Fulton Montgomery CC 19-2 and 15-0.  Herkimer started the first inning with 7 runs to open up the doubleheader.  Brandon Jones opened up the game on the first pitch with a homerun and went on to go 2-3 with 2 homeruns in game one.  Lee Foxton went 3-4 with 2 doubles in the cleanup spot and Brett Hauber added two doubles and a triple in a 3-4 performance.  TJ Abounader went the complete 5 innings allowing 2 earned runs on 2 hits and 2 walks with 5 strikeouts.

Game two started just as hot with 4 runs in the first inning keyed by a Kris Barone double that scored two runs.  That was enough for Andrew Wixon from Fairbanks, Alaska who went a complete 5 innings allowing only 4 hits with 1 walk in the shutout.  George Hajjar went 3-3 with a double and hit his second homerun on the season.  Kris Barone went 6-7 on the day as Herkimer pounded out 29 hits and 34 runs in 10 innings of play.
