Barone Leads Herkimer Baseball As They Finish Off Jefferson With Home Sweep

Herkimer scored 4 runs in inning one of game one as they went on to a tough 14-12 victory.  Kris Barone delivered a key bases loaded double in the first inning and the Generals would put up runs in every inning of game one.  Jefferson tied the game in the top of the sixth on a big hit two out hit from Pagan, but Herkimer would answer with two RBI singles from Jeff Sergott and Brandon Jones in the bottom of the sixth.  Al Ferenti shut the door with a 1-2-3 seventh and earned the victory in relief of starter Joe Perrotta who left after the 4th inning.  Brandon Jones went 4-5, Amar Lewis was 3-4, and Jeff Sergott went 3-4 with 2 doubles.

Gloversville High graduate Kris Barone then took care of business in game two with his third complete game shutout.  Barone went all 5 innings with 11 strikeouts, 3 walks and 2 hits.  Herkimer had a big 3rd inning keyed by a Brandon Jones homerun, his 5th on the season.  Jones finished the second game 3-3, making him 7-8 on the day.  Little Falls graduate Patrick Shepardson went 2-3 with a double, Proctor's Devin Warmack went 2-2 and Mike Scotellaro also added a 2-4 game at the plate.
