Herkimer Baseball Splits Final Series With Vikings; Ferenti Fans 10 In Game 2

Hudson Valley held on to a 9-8 victory in game one when Herkimer left runners on 1st and 3rd with only one out in the bottom of the seventh.  Hudson Valley struck out Devin Warmack and then got Luke Branch to ground out to end the threat.  Kris Barone went 3-3 with his first homerun with 4 runs batted in and Brett Hauber added a 2-4 performance at the plate.

Herkimer then got 5 strong innings from Al Ferenti as he struck out 10 allowed only 1 walk with 6 hits in his first start on the season. Herkimer got started with a homerun from George Hajjar in the first inning and then added another homerun in the 6th from Brandon Jones, his 6th on the season as they earned the split with a 13-8 victory.  Hajjar went 3-5 in game two and Brandon Jones went 3-4 as Herkimer improved their overall record to 17-9 and 13-3 in Region 3, 11-3 in the eastern division, and 8-2 in the Mountain Valley Collegiate Conference.
