Herkimer Baseball Splits With Rival Hawks

Kris Barone and Kyle Richardson had a battle on the mound and Herkimer came up just sort in a 4-3 loss in game one.  Herkimer scored first in the 1st inning on a Brett Hauber single but MVCC responded with 2 runs in the 2nd and 2 runs in the 4th inning to extend the lead to 4-1.  Herkimer got a 2 run homerun in the seventh from George Hajjar to pull the game to a 4-3 game and Amar Lewis then hit a 2 out double, but Richardson would get Lee Foxton to strikeout and end the attempt to tie the game.  Barone went all 6 innings with 8 strikeouts allowing only 1 earned run on 2 walks and 6 hits.

The bats caught on fire in game two as Herkimer pounded out 18 hits and took game two 19-12.  Herkimer got strong performances in game two from Lee Foxton who went 3-4 with 4 runs batted in and 2 doubles, Hajjar who went 4-4 with 2 runs batted in, Amar Lewis 3-5 with 5 runs batted in, and Jeff Sergott who added a 3-5 performance.
