Another Split For Herkimer Baseball

Herkimer came up short in game one as Mohawk Valley won 7-4.  Herkimer was down 3-2 in the fifth inning when MVCC capitalized on two errors to score 4 runs and break open a 7-2 lead.  Herkimer starter Andy Eggleston gave a solid performance in the loss.  Brandon Jones continued his tear at the plate going 4-4 in game one.

Herkimer won game two 6-4 behind a solid start from lefthander Brendan Tyrrell who went 6 and 1/3rd innings while striking out 6.  The game was tied 3-3 in the 5th inning when Herkimer got a key 2 out hit from Kris Barone to score Amar Lewis who led off the inning with a walk.  Mike Scotellaro then singled in Barone to extend the lead to 2 runs.  Brett Hauber closed the door in the seventh to earn his second save on the season.  George Hajjar went 3-4 in game two.
