Eggleston No Hitter Leads Herkimer Baseball To 4 Game Series Sweep
Herkimer baseball traveled to Plattsburg on Tuesday to start a 4 game series with Clinton CC. Herkimer road the hot bat of Lee Foxton in game one as Herkimer would take the opening game 15-2. Foxton went 3-4 with 4 runs batted in with 2 doubles and hit his 3rd homerun of the season. Al Ferenti and Brett Hauber added 3-4 performances at the plate as well.
Kris Barone pitched his 5th consecutive complete game in game two as Herkimer won 6-0. Barone went all 7 innings allowing only 1 walk and 2 hits while striking out 12 batters. Barone improves to 4-2 with a 2.50 ERA with 48 strikeouts in 36 innings on the season. Foxton added a 2-4 game with another double on the day.
Clinton then traveled to Herkimer on Thursday to finish the 4 game series. Herkimer scored 5 runs in the first keyed by a bases loaded double by Jeff Sergott that cleared the bases. Sergott would go 3-3 with 6 runs batted in on that key double and a 4th inning homerun as Herkimer took game three 16-0. Joe Perrotta improved to 5-1, pitching all 5 innings allowing 5 hits and 4 walks while striking out 5. Brandon Jones hit his 7th homerun of the season, 1 homerun short of the single season record of 8 set by Drew Farley in 2007.
Andy Eggleston finished off Clinton with a no-hitter in game four as Herkimer completed the series sweep with a 10-0 victory. Eggleston allowed 1 walk and hit one batter but kept the hits off the board and recorded 9 strikeouts over 6 innings of work. Amar Lewis went 3-4 with 3 doubles in the game.
