Tom Moreau
Tom has been assistant coach for the Generals baseball team since 2008. The Ilion native has been a baseball coach in the Mohawk Valley for more than 28 years.
He spent 10 years with Ilion Little League/Babe Ruth and the last 18 years with local power Ilion Post #920 American Legion team. During those 18 years as head coach/assistant, he helped guide his teams to 15 county championships, including the last ten consecutive years as the defending Herkimer County champions.
During his tenure he has coached some of Herkimer County's best baseball players. He coached Corey Haggerty '96-‘00 in Legion ball who went on to play in the minor leagues with the Chicago White Sox. Tom coached six players who have gone on to play in the College World Series.
Coach Tom has served as Herkimer County American Legion Baseball Chairman for the past nine years. He is retired from Met Life Insurance Company where he was employed for 28 years as a sales representative. He is a Vietnam veteran who served his country from 1968-1970.
Coach Tom and wife Carolyn reside in Ilion and have five
children and eight grandchildren.
