REGION III CHAMPIONSHIPS
2006, 2007
Herkimer baseball began a new era under Head Coach Jason Rathbun in 2005. Under Rathbun, Herkimer baseball has climbed to the top of NJCAA baseball with their work in the classroom and on the field. Herkimer has collected four straight Regional Final Fours, two Regional Championships, a Mountain Valley Conference Championship, Academic All-American Honors and two World Series appearances. In 2006 and 2008 Herkimer was recognized with Academic All American Honors with a team GPA over 3.00. Herkimer was the only DIII Junior College baseball team in the nation to achieve this status.
The program is a three-part season set up to keep our student athletes competing at the top level in the classroom and on the field. Herkimer baseball begins the day you walk on campus. Fall baseball includes preseason tournaments against outside competition, intrasquad scrimmages, daily practice fundamentals, plyometric and weight conditioning, mental preparation and our Blood Bowl Series. It gives us a chance to evaluate you over a time period to see what your future will be with the program. Winter is the off season where we provide facilities for weight training, indoor batting cages, indoor mounds, open turf area, two gymnasiums and a indoor pool for aquatic training. The winter is important for growth and strength conditioning
Our annual spring trip in March kicks off our spring season of competition. Spring season is a 40 game scheduled season against Mountain Valley Conference teams, NJCAA Region III teams and competition from outside the region against top Division I and II teams. The Region III record determines seeding for tournament play, with the chance to advance to the NJCAA Division III World Series.
Herkimer baseball offers you the opportunity to begin your college education and play baseball in a program that promises maximum exposure to four-year universities, professional scouts and an immediate chance to play your freshman year. Over thirty players have moved on to four year schools to continue their career as a student-athlete in the last four years. Over 20 players have received baseball scholarships, with one player currently playing professional baseball.

BASEBALL FIELD
Herkimer holds one of the top on-campus baseball facilities in the state of New York. The completely fenced in ballpark has dimensions of 330 feet down the left field line, 320 feet down the right field line, and 400 feet to center field. The field has a southern ball park feel to it with grassed in baselines from home plate to first base and from home plate to third base. The baseball facility has home and away dugouts with turfed flooring, open faced dugouts, and a small fence in front of the dugout getting the players closer to the action on the field. The baseball facility also features home and away bullpens, an outdoor batting cage, scoreboard, and an infield tarp to keep the field ready to play in case of bad weather. The sound of music playing from the press box gets the students out of their dorm rooms, to the field, which creates one of the best home field atmospheres in the country.
