Ellis, Kucel and Williams Earn Post Season Recognition

Herkimer County Community College's men's basketball players Akeem Ellis, Kevin Kucel and Rhamel Williams earned post-season honors for the 2008-09 season.

Freshman Akeem Ellis (Brooklyn, NY) was voted first team All Region III and Mountain Valley Conference Player of the Year. The 6'6" forward averaged 13.1 points and 11.6 rebounds per game, ranking seventh in the country for rebounds.

Senior co-captain Kevin Kucel (Gloversville, NY) was voted second team All-Region and first team All-Conference. The 5'7" point guard averaged 14.1 points and 7.1 assists per contest. He is ranked second in the country for his assist total and second for his 84.9% free throw percentage.

Freshman Rhamel Williams (Bronx, NY), a 6'2" forward and Herkimer's top defensive player, added 13.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game and was voted onto the third team All-Conference roster. He leads the Generals with 2.9 steals per game, good for 22nd in the country.
