Herkimer Falls to Conference Rival in OT

The men's basketball team had their eight game winning streak snapped by conference rival Hudson Valley Community College yesterday afternoon, 71-69 in overtime.  It was the first loss for the Generals since December 7 and their first home loss of the season.  Hudson Valley is ranked #3 in the country.

Kevin Kucel and Akeem Ellis continued their outstanding seasons to lead the team.  Kucel had 23 points and six assists and Ellis had 13 points and 15 rebounds.  Cliff Brown contributed 13 points.

The game was sent into overtime with an excellent team defensive effort in the final 28 seconds of regulation. Hudson Valley went ahead on a lay in with nine seconds left in overtime. The Generals had a chance to tie but could not find the bottom of the basket as time expired.

The loss drops the Generals' record to 16-5, 8-2 in the Mountain Valley Conference. Herkimer returns to action Wednesday night against local rival Mohawk Valley Community College at MVCC at 7:00.
