Herkimer Rallies to Beat Mohawk Valley in OT

The men's basketball team rallied from 13 points down with eight minutes left in the contest to defeat rival Mohawk Valley Community College in overtime 84-77 last night at MVCC before a standing room only crowd. The Generals furious comeback against the #7 in the nation Hawks was sparked by freshman Cliff Brown who recorded 23 points, seven steals, seven rebounds and five assists. Senior co-captain Kevin Kucel also scored 23 for the Generals including a game tying three pointer with less than a minute to go in regulation. Kucel also chipped in with four steals and six assists. Akeem Ellis again ruled the glass with 15 rebounds. He scored 21 including several key free throws down the stretch. Rhamel Williams tallied 13 points and 13 rebounds, taking over the boards in the last eight minutes of the game. Senior co-captain Steve Campbell also pulled down 10 rebounds.
