Men's Basketball Player Akeem Ellis Named Conference Player Of The Year; Will Compete In NJCAA All Star Game
Herkimer County Community College basketball player Akeem Ellis capped off a stellar season by being named Mountain Valley Conference Player of the year for the second year in a row, Region III Player of the Year, Most Valuable Player of the Region III Tournament, First –Team National Tournament Team and First Team All-American. A two year starter for Coach Matt Lee's Generals, Ellis averaged 16 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists to lead Herkimer to a 33-3 record and a 4th place finish in the nation. The 33 wins set an all-time record for the basketball program at HCCC.
Ellis has been selected to play in the National Division II/Division III NJCAA All-Star game in Las Vegas on Friday, April 30. He is considering scholarship offers from NCAA Division I colleges Coppin State in Baltimore, Maryland, Youngstown State in Youngstown, Ohio who plays in the Horizon League with Butler University and a host of Division II Colleges.
