Herkimer Men's Basketball Too Much To Handle For Rival Mohawk Valley

HCCC opened up a 21 point half time lead and cruised to a 68-60 victory over rival Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica on Tuesday evening.  Matt Baldwin led the scoring for the Generals with 15 points on 5/9 shooting from 3-point range.  Cliff Brown and Darien Thomas scored 10 each and Rhamel Williams and Ian Austin-Michaud chipped in with nine and eight points respectively.  Austin-Michaud and Williams also had nine rebounds each.  Austin-Michaud again held MVCC's top big man, Deandre Preaster, to single digits in the contest.  Brown had a great night, consistently beating the MVCC press and defending the top of the vaunted HCCC zone.  Reggie German chipped in with six rebounds.

The Generals return to the court Thursday night for Senior Night when they play Fulton-Montgomery Community College.  A win secures the Mountain Valley Conference championship.  HCCC is ranked #1 in Region III and #3 in the country as they have won their last 25 games in a row.  The Generals will honor seniors Akeem Ellis, Cliff Brown, Rhamel Williams, Ian Austin-Michaud, Reggie German, Josh Ramirez, Jordan Hill and Lesly Augustin.  Ceremonies begin at 6:45 and tip off is at 7:00.
