Herkimer Men's Basketball Wins Home Opener; Williams Leads The Charge With 18 points
The HCCC men's basketball team defeated #9 Hudson Valley Community College 87-50 last night before a packed HCCC gymnasium. The Generals balanced attack was lead by Akeem Ellis with a season high 13 points and 15 rebounds, Rhamel Williams with 18 points and nine rebounds, Cliff Brown with 10 points and 10 assists, and Ian Austin-Michaud, facing his former team, with nine rebounds and eight assists. Matt Baldwin had 13 points and Josh Ramirez had several key rebounds and steals to lead the Generals off of the bench. The Generals fall teams including men's and women's soccer, women's volleyball, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's swimming and men's basketball recognized the end of Breast Cancer Awareness month prior to the game, each having contributed during the month's events. HCCC President Dr. Ann Marie Murray joined us and threw the ceremonial first tip. They return to the court at home on Thursday to take on Jefferson Community College at 8:00 p.m.
