Herkimer Men's Basketball Cruises to Seventh Straight Victory; Brown Leads All Scorers With 19
The men's basketball team won its seventh game in a row last
night defeating Finger Lakes Community College 80-44 in
Herkimer. Cliff Brown tossed in 19 points to lead the
Generals. Akeem Ellis, named Region III player of the week,
added his fourth consecutive double double with 12 points and 10
rebounds. Ian Austin-Michaud continued his strong floor play
with 11 rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Rhamel
Williams also had a double double for the Generals with 17 points
and 13 rebounds. Freshmen Matt Baldwin and Darien Thomas
contributed off the bench again. Baldwin scored 11, including
a 28 foot dagger with three seconds left in the first half and
Thomas had 10 rebounds and was 3/4 from the field.
Herkimer is ranked eighth in the latest NJCAA national poll and is
ranked first in Region III. They lead the country in defense
giving up only 52 points per game. The Generals return to the
floor on Wednesday, December 2 when they face #14 Tompkins-Cortland
at home where they are looking to avenge one of only five losses
from last year's campaign.
The Generals would also like to recognize last year's captain,
Kevin Kucel, who scored the first points in his NCAA career
yesterday for Chaminade University as they lost to Vanderbilt in
the Maui Classic in Hawaii.
