Matt Lee

A former player for the Herkimer County Community College Generals (1999), Matt Lee returned to his alma mater in 2003 to serve as head coach.  In only his third year coaching the Generals, Lee led his team to the Region III finals and finished the season with a record of 23-9. In 2006-07, he again led Herkimer to the Region III finals and an overall record of 24-8. His team also clinched the program's first Mountain Valley Conference title since 1987. In 2007-08, the team once again was the runner-up in the Region III tournament with a 26-7 record.

Lee also is a full-time technical assistant in HCCC's Athletic Department. In 2007, he received the prestigious SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Professional Service.  In 2008, Lee was named a Division III National Representative to the NJCAA Basketball Coaches Association's Executive Counsel.  Lee previously worked under legendary coach Tom Murphy at Hamilton College, where he was the head junior varsity basketball coach and assisted with the varsity team. While at Hamilton, he was also the head golf coach. Lee coached varsity basketball at Whitesboro High School and junior varsity baseball at Holland Patent High School. Lee was an All-State athlete at Holland Patent High School where he was a four-year starter on the varsity basketball team and recorded over 800 points and 800 rebounds. At Herkimer, he guided a Tri-Valley League All-Star team to back-to-back tournament championships in the prestigious Zebra Classic.                                                   

Lee holds an A.S. in Physical Education from HCCC. A resident of Utica, Lee and his wife Kim have a daughter Jordan and a son Matthew.

 




Hank Testa
Title: Associate Head Coach Men's Basketball

Hank Testa has been the associate head coach for the men's basketball team since 2004. Before joining the basketball staff, Testa was the head baseball coach for 10 years, earning Region III and Mountain Valley Coach of the Year in 2000. He previously coached at Whitesboro High School for two years. 

Coach Testa has been an assistant professor of accounting at Herkimer for 21 years. He was Business Division Chairman at HCCC for 10 years and is a Curriculum Evaluator for the State University of New York, Bureau of Proprietary Schools. Coach Testa lives in Ilion with his wife Donna, who is a professor of Health Services Management at HCCC.  They have three daughters and two granddaughters.  In December 2009, Testa was named College Educator of the Year by the Mohawk Valley Genesis Group. 

 




P.J. Anadio
Title: Assistant Coach Men's Basketball

PJ Anadio joins the Herkimer County Community College coaching staff for his second season as an assistant coach for the men's basketball team. Coach Anadio is no stranger to the Herkimer campus as he enjoyed much success as a Generals player.

Anadio played high school basketball at Gloversville High School, where he was a starter for the varsity team. Anadio was a very successful student in the classroom where he received numerous honors. He earned Academic All-American as a member of the baseball team, he was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society, and was named to Who's Who Among American Junior College Students.

Anadio is employed as a technical assistant in the College's Fitness Center. He previously worked at Fulton Montgomery Community College where he assisted with the Men's and Women's basketball team. PJ's responsibilities as assistant basketball coach will consist of team scouting, daily practice planning and strength and conditioning assignments.

He resides in Herkimer with his fiancé Jamie and has a son Evan.

 




Matt Tomaino
Title: Assistant Coach Men's Basketball

Matt enters his second season as an assistant coach for the Generals. He played two seasons (2003-2005) at HCCC under head coach Matt Lee.  Upon graduation from Herkimer, Matt continued his playing career at Castleton State College where he played two seasons and graduated with a bachelor's degree in sports administration in the Spring of 2008.  In his final semester at Castleton he joined the men's basketball coaching staff as a student assistant and helped the Spartans earn a 15-11 overall record.

Matt currently resides in Deerfield, NY.
