Generals Beat TC3 29-2
The men's lacrosse team at Herkimer C.C. opened scoring just 22
seconds into the first quarter on a face off win by Zeppy O'Geen
and finished by Captain Doug Hoch. The Generals finished the game
29 - 2. The Generals had either a goal or an assist put in the book
by 17 different players. The Generals are now 1 - 1, with their
next two games on the road in Baltimore, MD against NJCAA opponents
Howard C.C. and CCBC Essex.
Zeppy O'Geen won 6 and lost 3 face-offs, Christian Quinn won all
seven he took and Spencer Smith from Lynn, Oregon won 6 and lost
only 1. Due to their efforts Herkimer possessed the ball almost all
game.
Captain JP Finn led the squad with 2 goals and 5 assists while
fellow Captain Doug Hoch added 6 points on 5 goals and 1 assist.
Dan Lawson had 1 goal and 4 assist, freshman Mat Thompson added 4
goals and 1 assist and freshman attackmen Andy Jamieson had a break
out day with 1 goals and 4 assists. Balston Spa native Jordan Duffy
finished the night with 2 goals and 2 assists, one of those being
one of the most deceptive hidden ball plays ever seen between Duffy
and JP Finn. No one saw the ball go in the net, not even the goalie
as he was looking the other way.
Freshman AJ Vittorio, a Liverpool native had 1 goal and 3 assists.
Hakta Garrow scored 3 goals and split time between offense and
defence for the Green Machine. David Limbouris, Jeff Seager, Zeppy
O'Geen, and Tom Szevin all added 1 goal and 1 assist. Single goal
games were all had by Christian Quinn, Brendan Murphy, Joe McGrath,
Spencer Smith and Zach Stanek. Patty Sullivan, a defensemen from
Colorado took the ball away from his attackmen and ran the length
of the field and stuck a shot from ten yards out past the goalie.
Tim Manoogian, Brendan Slepoy and defensemen Matt Daigle all added
an assist.
Despite the cold weather and blowing winds, both Herkimer goalies
played strong all night for the win. Sophomore Dan Solazzo ended
his game with 10 saves and was pulled in the middle of the second
quarter. Freshman goalie Bentray Reed from Nottingham High school
made his collegiate debut and had an amazing night. Bentray
finished the game with 17 saves, including two or three that were
highlight quality.
