Herkimer Falls to West Point in Season Opener
Herkimer Men's lacrosse team played at West Point Military Academy on Tuesday March 10th. Although Herkimer lost the game 16-15, it was a hard fought game nonetheless.
Herkimer saw 9 different players score goals in the effort. Leading
the General's offense was sophomore attackman Dan Lawson with 3
goals and 4 assists. Sophomore captain, JP Finn led the scoring
from the midfielders with 2 goals and 3 assists. Captain Doug Hoch
finished the night with 3 goals. AJ Vittorio broke into the scoring
books, scoring his first collegiate goal in the first quarter and
had 2 goals and 1 assist for Herkimer. Tom Szevin added the first
goal of the season for Herkimer and finished with 1 goal and one
assist with 8 ground balls. Also scoring for Herkimer were: David
Limbouris, Jordan Duffy, Zeppy O'Geen and Keigan Scharnberg. Mat
Thompson and Jeff Seager added one assist each.
Sophomore goaltender Dan Solazzo finished the game with 15 saves on
41 shots on cage. Face offs were controlled by Herkimer freshman
all night. Christian Quinn won 7 and lost 4 while Zeppy O'Geen won
11 and lost 6 while Spencer Smith won 3 and lost 2. This was
Herkimer's season opener. Their record is now 0-1.
Herkimer's next game is on Thursday March 12th at Tompkins Cortland
Community College at 4pm.
