Herkimer Men's Lacrosse Comes From Behind For Victory

With 8 minutes remaining the Generals were down by 5 goals and freshman Kraig Maracle provided the wake up goal to start the momentum.  In those last 8 minutes Kraig Maracle scored twice, Zeppy O’Geen won the face off and put one away, Mat Thompson scored one and Marty Hill scored to make it 12 – 11 MNE.  The next possession was controlled by Moriarty off the face off and Trent Thomas scored off a pass from Andy Jamieson to tie the game at 12.  Another face off win by O’Geen gave the Generals the chance they needed and Jordan Duffy scored the game winner with a great shot after rattling pipes all day.  Marty Hill’s 4th goal came with 9.7 seconds remaining in the game to make the final score 14 – 12.  We put ourselves in an unfavorable position for about 51 minutes of this game, but showed that we have the ability to battle back and work together as a team to win.

Mat Thompson and Marty Hill had 4 goals each, while Jeff Seager and Andy Jamieson had 4 assists.  Kraig Maracle finished with 3 goals and 1 assist while Jordan Duffy and Trent Thomas had 2 points apiece.  Aj Vittorio, Zeppy O’Geen and Peter Hill all added one point.  Brendan Murphy finished the game with 14 ground balls.

Defensively Josh Masciarelli finished with 14 saves and Dustyn Lyons stepped in to close out the victory and had 9 saves.

With this win the Generals are now 11 – 5 overall and have earned the fourth seed for the Region 3 playoffs which pits them against Mountain Valley Conference rival # 5 seed Hudson Valley at Herkimer on Tuesday at 7pm.
