Herkimer Men's Lacrosse Defeats Hudson Valley CC; Moves On To Play In Region III Championships This Weekend
After losing to Hudson Valley just a week ago by three goals, Herkimer executed their adjustments and came out on top. Freshman goalie Josh Masciarelli stepped up huge tonight, while battling a tough injury and finished the game with 21 saves on 31 shots. Josh played all 60 minutes and came up big for the defence and clearing the ball effectively.
The offensive possessions were controlled by Zeppy O’Geen and Dan Moriarty who combined for 21 wins and only 6 losses. Freshman captain Marty Hill had an explosive night, scoring 6 goals and adding 1 assist. Marty was always in the right spot at the right time and had some really impressive shots tonight. Co – Captains Andy Jamieson and Jeff Seager both added 4 points each on 1 goal and 3 assists apiece. Both Jamieson and Seager were a big factor in controlling the offensive tempo of the game for Herkimer. Freshman Kraig Maracle is seeing more and more time from game to game and definitely produced tonight scoring twice and assisting on 2 others. Mat Thompson, Zeppy O’Geen, Jordan Duffy, Rob Remy and Peter Hill all added one point in the win.
Now that it’s playoff time we have some work to do before Saturday. We are happy with tonight’s win but we must now get back to game planning and making the proper adjustments for this Saturday.
With this victory Herkimer moves to 12 – 5 overall and faces Onondaga C.C. at 1pm on Saturday in the Region 3 Tournament Semi – final round, which is being hosted in Wehrum Stadium on Herkimer’s campus.
