Aragon to be Inducted to NJCAA Soccer Hall of Fame

Herkimer County Community College men's soccer coach Pepe Aragon will be inducted, as a player, into the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Soccer Hall of Fame. As a student-athlete at Herkimer, Aragon was a two time all-American (1989 & 1990) and led his team to a national third place finish in his senior year.

Aragon received an athletic scholarship to NCAA Division I Bowling Green State University where he was a two-time All- Mid-American Conference selection and helped lead the Falcons to their first NCAA tournament appearance in more than 20 years. After graduating from Bowling Green, he played one season for the Canton Invaders of the National Professional Soccer League. He then signed a contract with the Cleveland Caps of the United States Inter-Regional Soccer League (U.S.I.S.L.) before accepting the head coaching position at HCCC in 1998. In 2000, Aragon was named to the NJCAA All-Century Team along with former U.S. National Team coach Bruce Arena and MLS goal keeper Zach Thorton.

HCCC Director of Athletics Donald Dutcher said: "I cannot think of a better selection for the NJCAA Soccer Hall of Fame. Pepe has always conducted himself in a first class manner and what he has done for the sport of soccer is immeasurable. We are very fortunate to have him as our soccer coach at HCCC."

Aragon's induction will take place on Friday, November 7 at the NJCAA Division III National Soccer Final Four banquet in Richland, Texas.
