Former Herkimer County Community College Male Soccer Standout Named NJCAA Region III Male Athlete of the Year

Former Herkimer County Community College soccer star Ivan Guarin has been named National Junior College Athletic Association Region III Male Athlete of the Year.

Guarin graduated from HCCC in December 2007 and currently attends NCAA Division I University of Hartford, where he was named team captain in his first year. HCCC men's soccer coach Pepe Aragon said, "Ivan is one of the classiest student-athletes that I have ever coached."

A native of White Plains, NY, Guarin led the Generals to NJCAA national final four appearances in 2006 and 2007. He was named 2007 Region III Player of the Year, was a first team NSCAA All-American and first team NJCAA All-American.
