Herkimer Men's Soccer Alumni Help Teams To Tournament Appearances; Kennedy To Play In NCAA Division II Final Four December 3rd
Former Herkimer soccer star Sam Kennedy helped lead Lees-McRae College (NC) to an 18-2-1 record and the school’s first ever NCAA Division II National Final Four. The Bobcats beat the University of Tampa 1-0 to advance to the national semi-final and will face Lewis University (IL) Thursday, December 3rd in Tampa, Florida. Three other former players helped lead their schools to NCAA Tournament appearances as well. Sean Trinidad helped lead Barry University (Fla) to a 14-6-1 record and a Sunshine State Conference Championship. With the win the Buccaneers advanced to the NCAA Division II tournament losing to Rollins College (Fla) 1-0 in OT. Former Generals All-American Harry Appiah helped guide NCAA Division II powerhouse Southern Connecticut State University to a 14-5-1 record and the schools 31st NCAA tournament appearance. The Owls lost to Southern New Hampshire University in the 1st round of the NCAA tournament losing 4-3 in PK’s. Corey Phillips led Medaille College to the second round of the NCAA Division III National tournament defeating Denison University 3-0 and losing to Carnegie Mellon College 1-0. “Our alumni continue to make us proud.” Said Coach Pepe Aragon. “Their success at the next level is what creates opportunities for our seniors.”
