Herkimer Forwards Record Hat Tricks

Herkimer, NY - Freshman forward Joel Purkiss (Sheffield, England) and sophomore forward Gustavo Pereira (Curitiba, Brazil) both recorded hat tricks that helped lead the Generals to a 9-0 win against Clinton CC.  Purkiss scored the first three goals of the game with his first just 52 seconds into the game. 

Purkiss second finish was the goal of the game.  He sent an absolute cracker to the high right corner of the goal from 38 yards out.  He completed his hat trick three minutes later.  The Generals went into halftime up 3-0. 

Freshman Reco McLaren (Bridgeport, Conn) scored in the 46th minute off of a great through ball from sophomore Mike Roopchandsingh (Newburgh, NY), who recorded two assists on the day. 

Pereira began his hat trick in the 53rd minute off an assist from freshman Jon Rosscraig (Dundee, Scotland).  He scored again in the 57th minute, aided by Roopchandsingh’s assist.  Pereira notched his third goal in the 60th when Jhonathan Sanchez (Ossining, NY) delivered a fine cross from the right side that Pereira headed in.

Patrick Grajeda finished the scoring with 10 minutes to play, assisted by Elliott Hockley.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jon Moore recorded Herkimer's first shutout of the season.

Herkimer is now 3-1 on the season.  Their next game will be Wednesday, Sept. 8, when they host Fulton-Montgomery at 7:00 PM.
