Generals’ soccer teams earn high seedings for postseason

Herkimer, NY – HCCC’s men’s soccer team has been awarded the #2 seed and the women’s team has been named the #3 seed for Regional play. Thus, both teams have byes for the first round and will play in the Region 3 semifinals.
Herkimer’s men will meet the winner of the North Country (#7) vs. Jamestown (#10) quarter-final game. The Lady Generals will take on the winner of the Alfred State (#6) vs. Erie (#11) quarterfinal contest. HCCC will host both the men's and women's semifinal games on Tuesday, October 25. The women’s game will kick off at 12:30 p.m. and the men’s game will follow, at 2:30.
The semifinal winners will move on to the Region III finals on Saturday, Oct. 29. The men’s finals will be played at Tompkins-Cortland; the women’s games will be played at Herkimer.
Region 3 postseason play has a new format this year. The region, which includes all of New York north and west of Ulster County, will be sending two representatives to the national Final Eight tournaments. Region 3 and Region 19 will alternate years for sending two teams on to the Nationals. Region 19 includes eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. This is Region 3’s year to send two men’s teams and two women’s teams forward.

[ Update - Saturday, Oct. 22 ]
The Region III quarterfinal games were played on Saturday. The Alfred State women rolled over Erie CC 7-0. The North Country men shut out Jamestown 4-0. Thus, the Lady Generals will host Alfred State and the HCCC men will host North Country in a doubleheader on Tuesday, Oct. 25.
The women’s game will begin at 12:30 p.m. It will afford the Generals a chance to avenge a 2-0 loss to Alfred State on October 8.
The men’s game will follow, with a scheduled kickoff time of 2:30. Herkimer won a 9-0 contest at North Country on Sept. 25.
