Herkimer has established itself as one of the elite Junior College soccer programs in the country.  The Generals are known for their entertaining offensive style of play and disciplined defense.  The program has won 21 straight Region III Titles (22 overall) and played in 12 NJCAA National Championship games, winning seven.  With this type of success, both on the field and in the classroom, comes national exposure.  Past players have received athletic and academic scholarships to schools such as Boston College, Ohio State, South Carolina, West Virginia, Coastal Carolina, Hartford, Bowling Green, Binghamton, Southern Connecticut, Lynn, Le Moyne and American International.  The program has also produced six NSCAA National Players of the Year, nine Region III Players of the Year, three Region III Male Athletes of the Year and over 40 All-Americans.  Several Generals have played or continue to play professionally in leagues such as the United Soccer League First and Second Division.

Great team chemistry is expected on and off the field and a high level of commitment and personal discipline are key ingredients to being part of the Herkimer family.  Pre-season begins in mid-August with scrimmages against four-year schools.  The Generals open each season with a tournament that features four of the top-ranked NJCAA schools in the country.  Herkimer hosts the prestigious men’s Coliseum Soccer Club Classic on odd-numbered years.  On even-numbered years they participate in a similar tournament hosted by Tompkins-Courtland CC.

Herkimer is part of Region III which is one of the biggest and strongest regions in the country.  The winner of the Region III playoffs receives an automatic bid to the NJCAA National Championship Tournament.

The off-season program includes team practices and lifting in the winter and spring outdoor games with four-year schools such as Syracuse University, Colgate University, Binghamton University and Le Moyne College.  Players receive a summer workout program to follow to ensure that they will be mentally and physically fit coming into pre-season.  This year-round process has helped the Generals to be one of the best junior college programs in the country.  The team is very active in the community, in things such as adopting a family in need for the holidays with the Salvation Army and participating in the Heart, Run and Walk with the American Heart Association.
