Herkimer Men's Tennis finishes 3rd in Region III Championships

Queensbury, NY - The Herkimer Men's tennis team traveled to Adirondack Community College this past weekend and had a strong showing in the Region III Championships. Despite a 1-8 regular season record, Coach Tom Basel's group finished 3rd in the two day session and put a great ending on an otherwise disappointing season.

Bobby Fleming highlighted the team's effort by making it to the Region III Final in 3rd Singles. He made the final despite having to play four matches in one day. Fleming also teamed up with Rob Murphy to advance to the first Doubles semi-final. In all, each member of team earned a first round win in either Singles or Doubles competition.

As the surprise team of the tournament, the third place finish represents the third time in five years that the team has finished in the top three in Region III. Coach Basel hopes to build upon this success as he looks toward next year.
