Anadio Named New Head Coach of Herkimer Softball

Herkimer County Community College has appointed PJ Anadio, of Herkimer, as head softball coach. Anadio joins the Generals softball program after serving as an assistant coach for the Herkimer baseball team for three seasons. He replaces Amy Brelinsky, of Herkimer, who served as head softball coach since 2003.

Director of Athletics Donald Dutcher said, "PJ is a great addition to our head coaching staff. He brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the softball program, and his enthusiasm for the sport of softball will greatly benefit the student athlete experience at HCCC."

"I am looking forward to the opportunity and challenges of being a head coach for Herkimer. I am a General through and through, and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. I am really looking forward to the challenge of building the softball program into a nationally recognized program," said Anadio.

Anadio also is an assistant coach for the men's basketball team and is a full-time technical assistant in the Athletic Department. Prior to coming to HCCC in the spring of 2006, Anadio served as head coach for a struggling women's softball team at Fulton Montgomery Community College. He turned that program into a regional contender finishing 17-17 after just four wins the previous year.

"I feel very fortunate to learn and grow under some of the best coaches in the country, including Jason Rathbun, Matt Lee and Hank Testa," said Anadio. "I also would like to recognize former coach Amy Brelinsky for the type of coach she is and ultimately, and maybe more importantly, what type of person she is."

When asked what to expect from his team, Anadio said, "While I am not naïve to the fact that baseball and softball are two different sports, if I stick to what my beliefs are and the core principles of hard work, dedication and teamwork, we will be fine. Just as much as I will demand from my players, that will be a two-way street. They can expect the same out of me as far as learning and perfecting my craft. I am a firm believer that if you do everything the right way off the field, in the classroom and in the community, it will spill over to the field and translate into wins."
