Women's Softball Wraps Up Season With Heartbreaker at Corning

The game was exciting as the score was back and forth. The game remained tied until Corning scored on a Herkimer error in the bottom of the 6th inning. The Lady Generals didn't go away quietly as they came back and scored 3 runs in the top of the 7th inning. Lindsay Johnson got on first with a basehit bunt, then Lauren Quigan moved her over on a sacrifice bunt. Katelyn Van Eron had a single to scored the run to tie the game. This was followed by 2 singles in a row from Courtney Roberts and Nikki Lippert to make the score 4-2. In the bottom of the 7th, Herkimer got the first 2 outs right away before Brittany McKerrow singled to get on and then Liz Gorges hit a 2 run homerun to tie the game. In the eighth inning, Herkimer had runners in scoring position but came up short. Corning then got a run to end the game on a close play at the plate. Herkimer ends their season with a 19-11 record.
