Swanston HR Helps Lead Herkimer Softball To Split With Husdon Valley CC

The Herkimer Generals Softball team bounced back to take game two 8-0after a disappointing loss to Hudson Valley in the opener.The first game was a back and forth battle that ended in a 8-6 loss at the hands of the vikings.  The Generals offense was led by Emily Woudenberg who was 2-4 on the day with a couple rbi's.

The second game saw the Generals bounce back in a big way, eventually mercy ruling the host Vikings. Freshman pitcher Courtney Hibbard threw a gem on the mound as she picked up her second win on the year and first complete game shutout.  She gave up 3 hits while striking out three and surrendering only 2 walks on the day.  The offensive attack was led by Amber Swanston who had a monster day at the plate.  She went 2-3 with a triple and a  3-run homerun finishing the day with 4rbi's. Kayla Ladd also recorded a multi-hit game going 2-4 with 3rbi's.

Herkimer will take to the field tomorrow afternoon as they get set to open their newly renovated field vs Alfred St @ 1pm.
