Herkimer Softball Drops Two Games on Spring Trip
Early season fielding woes ended up costing the Herkimer CCC softball team a couple of games today in Myrtle Beach. Herkimer committed a total of 14 errors between the two games and lost the first to Sussex CC of NJ by the score of 8-5. Courtney Hibbard got the start for the Generals and pitched well but some costly mistakes and timely hitting by Sussex proved to be the difference. The Generals were led by Samantha Signor(2-4, rbi) and Misty Mathis (1-3, 2 rbis). Also recording hits for the Generals were Lindsay Johnson(2b), Krista Stubba (2b) while Amber Swanston and Kayla Ladd added base hits.
In game two, the Generals faced one of the top teams in the country in Northampton CC of PA and lost by the score of 6-4. Again the Generlas shot themselves in the foot with another 7 errors and costly baserunning mistakes throughout the game. Kayla Wallenhorst took the loss for the Generals on the mound despite only surrendering 6 hits and 2 earned runs across 7 innings. The Generals offensive attack was led by Emily Woudenberg (2-3, HR, 3rbi) and Misty Mathis (2-3). Also contributing to the Generals attack was Kayla Ladd and Samantha Signor with a base hit apiece.
The Generals will be back in action tomorrow vs Genesee CC and Brookdale CC.
